No. 7 ranked Sarah “Velvet” Ellerby debuts resort’s new billiards table
REUNION, Fla. (March 8, 2008) – One of the word’s top-ranked billiards players has teamed with Ginn Reunion Resort to unveil the resort’s newest amenity.
No. 7 ranked billiards pro Sarah Ellerby will help debut the resort’s state-of-the-art, custom-made billiards table while teaching members and guests basic pool fundamentals to raise their game.
The cue-wielding pool player, known as Velvet, will make her first of several scheduled appearances at Reunion from 7 to 9 p.m. March 17.
Ellerby will make another appearance at Reunion during the Ginn Open after she returns from Taiwan. She will compete in the 2008 WPA Women’s 9 Ball Championships, an event that will be televised throughout Asia and on the Internet.
Ellerby, who resides in Orlando, will also be available for corporate functions, golf outings and charity events as part of her affiliation with Reunion Resort.
Born in England, Ellerby began playing pool at the age of 12 and claimed her first title at 14. The winner of more than 80 titles, Ellerby has been called The Michelle Wie of Billiards” by commentators on The Golf Channel.
Reunion’s decision to add a billiards table and partner with Ellerby grew out of the growing interest in billiards among Americans. Pool has become one of the most popular recreational sports in the nation, played by more than 34 million people.
