Monica Webb, the points leader of the Women’s Professional Billiard Association (WPBA) leads the charge to take home top honors at the Great Lakes Classic event, being held this week at the Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City, IN.

Webb, who has won the last two events on the WPBA schedule, won her first two matches with aplomb and remains undefeated. She survived her first-round match against Melissa Morris 9-3 to face Melissa Little and best her 9-5. Her next feat will be to meet Korean sensation Yu Ram Cha in the third round. Cha bested Alice Rim 9-5 and then Caroline Pao 9-3 for the opportunity to meet Webb in the third round.

One featured match-up in Friday’s rounds will be Karen “The Irish Invader” Corr versus Jasmin Ouschan of Austria. Corr has had an easy time of it so far, besting Rhio Flores 9-2 and then Kyoke Sone 9-1, while Ouschan has had to best Cristina De La Garza 9-3 and then Line Kjorsvik 9-5 to reach Corr.

Another explosive match-up Friday will be Jeanette “The Black Widow” Lee versus Ga-Young Kim. Lee defeated Julie Mason-Comitini 9-5 in the first round and then bested Iris Ranola 9-5 in the second. Kim faced off with and defeated Ming Ng 9-3 and then sent Stacey Novack to the one-loss side 9-5 to face Lee in the third round.
