Winning Weekend for Walsman

J. Pechauer Southeast Open 9-Ball Tour / Columbus, GA

by Lea Andrews

Arlo Walsman took down everyone in his path to first in the J. Pechauer Southeast Open 9-Ball Tour the weekend of June 6-7. The $1,000-added tournament drew a field of 53 amateur and semi-pro players to Players Billiards in Columbus, GA.

The winners’ side quarterfinals pitted Walsman against Dewayne Logan, whom he bested 7-5, and Jeff Jordan against Frog Henderson, who fell 7-5. On the one-loss side, Randy Jordan followed up his shut-out win over Matt Bulfin with a hill-hill win over Clay Medlock, while Shane Winters cruised to a 5-2 win over Ricky Childs. Jordan continued his winning ways when Henderson came over to meet him, putting him in fifth with a decisive 5-1 win, while Winters marked up just three games to Logan’s five, finishing in fifth himself.

In the fight for the hot seat, Walsman came on strong, sending J. Jordan to try to fight his way back with a score of 7-4. Logan was eager to get back to the winners’ side, too, though, and after winning a hill-hill battle with R. Jordan, he met up with J. Jordan. In the fight for the spot in the finals and a rematch with Walsman, Logan was the 5-3 victor.

Logan’s opponent in the finals, though, was someone who hadn’t had a single taste of defeat all weekend, and he wasn’t about to. The single race-to-9 final set was tight but Walsman, focusing on victory, earned his first-place finish with a 9-7 win.
