Wilk Dominates on Dominiak Tour

Stan Wilk walked away with first place at the Dominiak Cues Northeast 10-Ball Tour’s December 6 stop, defeating Gene Hunt in the final match. The stop was hosted by Buster’s Billiards in New Milford, CT.
Hunt started off in the top half of the winners’ bracket, making his way to the hot seat match with steady shot-making by scoring wins over Mike Fioccola, Bill Jimenez, and Vinny Shea. The bottom half of the winners’ side bracket saw houseman Wilk notch strong wins over Mel Jimenez, Glen Towle, and Chuck Hill. Wilk took an early lead in the hot seat match over Hunt, and though Hunt fought back it was Wilk who won the hot seat, while Hunt was sent west.
The one-loss side saw tour regulars Tony Hubbard and Steve Parise steadily heading for each other in the quarterfinals. This was a tight match, but Hubbard came with some strong safeties and took advantage of a couple of scratches by Parise to clinch the match. Hubbard advanced to take on Hunt, and though this match went back and forth, Hunt seized the opportunity and took the match by two games to advance to the finals against Wilk.

In the finals, Hunt was ready for the rematch and the chance to wreak revenge. He took off to a strong early lead of 4-0, but he scratched on the 9 ball in the next and gave up that game to make it 4-1. Wilk clawed back into the match, bringing the score to 4-3 and then nailing a 5-10 carom shot to bring it to hill-hill. In the final rack, Wilk was left with a table-length bank shot on the 10 ball that he drilled to take home the title.
