A 2006 University of California, Davis, graduate’s audio creation has made Time magazine’s list of “Top 50 Inventions of 2009.”
Jason Lucash’s OrigAudio is a self-powered, portable audio speaker made from recycled materials. OrigAudio’s Illinois-based Web site says the product is composed of recycled paper materials, and the speaker units can be plugged into any audio device that has a headphone jack.
The speakers start out flat, but the surfaces can be folded to form the 3-inch speaker cubes … just like origami, according to the company. Various speaker colors and designs are offered.
OrigAudio speakers also have been featured on NBC’s “Today” show.
