by InsidePOOL Staff

The Tri-State Tour stopped into Amsterdam Billiards and Bar in New York, NY, September 5 for their B-D 9-ball event. A total of 20 people participated, with Duane Toney taking first place winnings home out of the $500-added purse.

Toney, who won the August 16 stop as well, went undefeated through the field, besting Scott Simonetti in the winners’ side final four 7-3 to advance to the hot seat match. There he faced down Andrew Kane, who had just bested Tony Eglasias in a hill-hill match, winning 7-2.

Sent to the one-loss side, Eglasias matched up with Gina Kim-Lipsky and sent her packing 7-4, while Sam Li ousted Simonetti 7-6. Eglasias and Li then met in the quarterfinal match, with Li going home with fourth place after a 7-4 defeat. Still on a roll, Eglasias then eliminated Kane in the semifinals 7-2 to advance to face Toney. But that was as far as he got, for Eglasias was simply playing too strong that day, and he won the final match 7-3.
