TAP Teams Rack up the Money

$22,000 Masters Tournament Payout

The TAP Billiard League in Phoenix, AZ, completed their annual three-day Masters Tournament, the final event for the top-rated teams to qualify for the November TAP Nationals in Charleston, SC.

Tournament play started September 26 using a round robin format to determine the NCAA seeding placement on the championship board for September 27. On September 28 the final four teams from the championship board and second-chance board competed for the cash, trophies, and bragging rights. Prize money was awarded to each qualifying team to defray expenses if they chose to go to the TAP Nationals. If teams decided NOT to go, the prize money was still theirs to use however they wished.

In addition to the prize money, there were three vouchers worth $2,300 each given for hotel expenses (three rooms/four nights) and entry fees ($700) into the national tournament. These were “traveling” vouchers, meaning they were offered to the first-, second-, and third-place teams first. If they decided not to use their prize money to go to Nationals, the vouchers moved down the line and were given to a team who planned to attend. All three top teams accepted the vouchers.

Congratulations to the teams listed below:
