Sniper Wins Second Straight KF Cues Billiard Event

Two Weekends, Two Wins for The Sniper

KF Cues Tour / Jacksonville, FL

by Lea Andrews

Tony “The Sniper” Crosby followed up the previous weekend’s win on the Seminole Pro Tour by taking down one of the largest open fields in the history of the KF Cues Tour May 30-31. Bankshot Billiards in Jacksonville, FL, was the site of the carnage as tournament director Crosby came out of the field of 54 firing, emerging as the winner of the $1,000-added event.

Crosby’s only loss of the tournament was in the winners’ side quarterfinals, where he met Stoney Stone in a tight hill-hill match. Crosby and Dave Grossman, who had fallen to Han Berber 7-5, went to the left side of the bracket while Stone and Berber fought for the hot seat.

On the one-loss side, Mike Davis, who had just put Mark Wathen in ninth place, met up with Ramsey Barrett, who had put Butch Croft in ninth. Meanwhile, Neil Fujiwara and Jason Richko, who’d bested Josh Lewis 7-4 and Trevor Moore 7-4, respectively, were matching up themselves.

Davis and Fujiwara put Croft and Richko into seventh for the right to face Crosby and Grossman, and while Grossman was able to get to the hill against Fujiwara, Davis could mark up just two games against Crosby, and the two finished in fifth.
Fujiwara fared better than Davis against Crosby, but his five games weren’t enough to get to the one-loss semifinals, and it was Crosby who faced Han Berber, who had taken the hot seat match against Stone to the hill. Against Crosby, though, Berber couldn’t get there, and he took third with a score of 7-5.

The final set was a single race to 9, and Crosby jumped out to an early 5-1 lead. Stone was not giving in that easily, though, and he fought to get the score within one at 7-6. “The Sniper” had already found his mark, and he took the last two games to close out the win at 9-6.
