In the late evening rounds Friday night at the WPBA Carolina Classic, Sarah Rousey upset Austria’s Jasmin Ouschan 9-7. While Rousey remains in the winners’ bracket and reaches the final round of 16 with her victory, Ouschan now has to fight Melissa Little in the one-loss side of the chart to make it back to the round of 16.

In the other winners’-bracket matches, Jeanette Lee routed young gun Anna Kostanian 9-1, sending her to face the winner of the Brittany Bryant/Laura Smith match Saturday. Karen “The Irish Invader” Corr delivered Vivian Villareal a 9-4 loss—Villareal will face either Julie Kelly or Maureen Seto. Allison Fisher came through in her match against Monica Webb the 9-4 winner, while Webb will play the winner of the Iris Ranola/Miyuki Sakai match.

Line Kjorsvik is back in action, having sent GenerationPool.com 9-Ball Championships winner Xiaoting Pan west 9-5, where she will either play Liz Lovely or Belinda Calhoun. Gerda Hofstatter sent Tiffany Nelson to the left side of the chart by a resounding 9-2, and Kelly Fisher continues to hold her own after a 9-2 drubbing of Helena Thornfeldt. Finally, defending champion Ga Young Kim remains in the running after her strong 9-2 victory over Dawn Hopkins.
