Shuffett, an A-ranked player going to 9 games, was knocked to the left side of the brackets in his set against Chris Zayas, a B player going to 7, which went double-hill. Shuffett had fought back on two separate occasions, from 0-4 down and then from 6-5 down to knot the score at 6-8. Zayas, who had won the lag, made the 9 ball on the break in the last rack to send the young prodigy over to the other side of the tournament bracket. Zayas went on to play another A player, Rice, in his next match. However, he was not able to overcome Rice, moving to the left side by a score of 9-3.
