Zinnie Panju almost didn’t get a chance to win the Maryland State 9-Ball Championship title. The original venue was canceled at the last minute, but with the resourcefulness of Ceci Strain, Linda Shea, and Gary Allen, the event was rescheduled at Champion Billiards Café in Fredericksburg, MD.
Panju ran undefeated through the field, posting wins over Kathleen Lawless, My-Hanh Lac, Sherry Pouncey, and Buffy Jolie. She then won the hot seat against Supadra Boonpasook with a 7-1 score.
Boonpasook posted wins over Erica Testa, Linda Shea, and Sharon O’Hanlon before being sent to the left side of the chart by Panju. There she won 7-2 over Jolie, fresh off defeating Morgan Steinman, before meeting up with Panju again for the finals.
Panju posted up four games before Boonpasook answered with four games before Panju reached the hill. Boonpasook was unable to stop Panju, who won 7-4 to claim the title.
