Morris and Others Advance at World Summit of Pool

After their second day of play at the World Summit of Pool, held at the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV, the tournament has revealed its final 8 players out of the original 31. This $20,000-added UPA event is sponsored by McDermott Handcrafted Cues, Instroke Cases, Ivan Simonis Cloth, Aramith Balls, Delta-13 Rack, Quick-Clean, and Diamond Tables.

Leading the top half of the winners’ side bracket, “Rocket” Rodney Morris won his match over Canada’s John Morra and will next play Keith Bennett, who sent “Mad Max” Eberle to the left side of the chart. On the bottom half of the winners’ side bracket, Roberto Gomez of the Philippines defeated Germany’s Ralph Eckert and will meet Mike Dechaine, who earlier bested Walter Glass to advance.

On the one-loss side of the chart, Steve Moore, who suffered a second-round loss to Dechaine, is still alive. He ousted Eberle and will next play Morra. Once on the west side, Morra faced off against Dean Goddard and won to advance.
 

Thorsten Hohmann, who suffered a second-round loss like Moore, has been making his way back through the left side of the chart. He eliminated Arturo Hernandez, Dennis Orender, and Walter Glass to make it to the final four on the one-loss side and will next play John Kucharo. Kucharo has won three matches as well on the west side to make it to the final four, defeating Bob Falber Jr., Gene Albreicht, and Eckert.
