Mason Takes Lucasi Season Opener

The 2009-2010 Lucasi Hybrid All-American Tour kicked off October 3 at Smokies in Virginia Beach, VA . The $500-added billiard event featured 23 players in a double-elimination 9-ball format on 7-foot bar boxes and was won by Bill Mason.
Veteran Mason topped off his undefeated run to the tournament finals by taking down Mike York in the A-side semifinals 5-1 and outpointing Jack Davis 5-3 in the hot seat match. On the B-side Rodney Nelson and Mike York ended the event at seventh place for Leroy Bailey 5-2 and Bob Staeck 5-2, respectively.

In the next round of the one-loss side, the tables were turned, as Bailey and York were each ousted at fifth place at the hands of Reno Villanueva 5-2 and Dave Perry 5-0, respectively. Next Perry eliminated Villanueva at fourth place and was ousted himself in the B-side finals by Davis 3-5. That set up the tournament finals, which needed only one set, as Mason again vanquished Davis 5-3 for the title.
