Marr Scores First Win of the Season

Fast Eddie’s College Station, TX, was the host site for the fifth OB Cues Ladies’ 9-Ball Tour stop. The players were out in full force with a strong field present to commence the battle for the guaranteed first-place prize money of $750, but it was Lisa Marr in the winners’ circle, taking her first stop of the 2008 season.
Iris Ranola, fresh off her runner-up finish at the WPBA U.S. Open, showed up to play, and Marr ended up playing her in the first round. Both players were fighting for the win, and it came down to a hill-hill match with Marr coming out on top. Marr continued her winning ways to return for Sunday’s action.
By Sunday, Bonnie Plowman and Ranola were the only two players left vying for the WPBA Pacific Coast qualifier and ended up playing each other in the one-loss side. So with this added pressure, it was game on for them both early Sunday morning. With awesome shot-making and defensive safety play when needed, Plowman emerged as the victor with a score of 7-5.
As the day progressed and the finals were set, it was Heather Lloyd versus Marr with Lloyd having to take down Lisa not once, but twice, in this true double-elimination format. Earlier Sunday, Lloyd and Marr played for the hot seat and Marr won with a score of 7-5. She proved to be unstoppable all weekend, besting Lloyd in a single set in the finals 7-3.
