Castle Billiards in East Rutherford, NJ, hosted the February 13 stop of the Tri-State Tour, which brought in a field of 54 people. The $500-added, B-D event saw Ted Lapadula and Tom McCloud split the prize purse.

McCloud was the one who went through to the finals undefeated, besting Ken Debroske in the winners’ side final four in a hill-hill match to meet up with Ed Culhane in the hot seat match. Culhane had just defeated Steven Way in a double-hill match. McCloud dominated the winners’ side final, moving on to the hot seat 7-3.

Debroske went on to challenge Jonathan Castillo on the one-loss side, but after their hill-hill match, it was Debroske who was sent home in fifth place. Tying him was Steven Way, who was eliminated by Lapadula 7-4. Lapadula then eked out a 6-5 victory over Castillo in the quarterfinal match.

On a roll now, Lapadula easily ousted Culhane 7-1 in the semifinals to advance to the finals against McCloud. But because of the lateness of the hour, both players decided to split the prize money.
