by InsidePOOL Staff
Demetrius Jelatis and Angela Jackson took down the eighteenth stop of the Pechauer All-American Tour Saturday, December 1. Hosted by Spikes Bar Grill in Faribault, MN, this $1,500-added event drew 41 men ($1,000 added) and 7 women ($500 added) in a double-elimination 8-ball format on 7-foot bar boxes.
In the men’s division, Jelatis cruised undefeated to the finals. In the hot seat match, Jelatis eased past Matt Benton 5-2. Earlier in the A-bracket semifinals, Jelatis overpowered Rich Cunningham 5-1, while Benton clipped Mike Fieldhammer 5-4. In the B-side bracket quarterfinals, John Meyer and Fieldhammer dispatched Cunningham and Jamie Pluta into fifth place by identical 5-3 scores. In the one-loss side semifinals Fieldhammer eliminated Meyer 5-2, but his march was stopped in the B-side finals by Benton 5-3. The tourney finals could have gone either way, but Jelatis claimed the deciding game in the first set over Benton 5-4 for the title.
In the women’s division, Chrissy Pluta claimed the hot seat by out-pointing Angela Jackson 4-2. In the previous round, Jackson had turned back Bonnie Biers while Pluta outmaneuvered Tabby Benton. In the B-side semifinals Mary Tonjum eliminated Kellie Jones 4-3, but in turn Tonjum was ousted in the B-side finals by Angela Jackson 4-1. Jackson had to defeat Pluta two sets for the title in the tourney finals, and she had what it took, claiming 4-2 and 4-3 decisions over Pluta for the title.
