Comeback Victory for Bowman
McDermott All-American Tour / Davenport, IA
by InsidePOOL Staff
The fortieth stop of the 2006/2007 McDermott All American Tour was hosted at Miller Time Billiards in Davenport, IA, Saturday, May 26. The event featured a $500-added purse with 34 players in a double-elimination 8-ball format on 7-foot bar boxes. Fourteen-year-old Justin Morris ran undefeated to the finals. In the hot seat match, Morris slipped by Josh Johnson 4-4. Earlier in the A-bracket semifinals, Morris outplayed Duke Dahl 4-3, while Johnson knocked off Rich Bideaux 6-4. In the B-side quarterfinals Jesse Bowman eliminated Bideaux 6-3. He then took out Anthony Garcia 6-3 in the semifinals, and in the B-side finals Bowman continued his hot hand by topping Josh Johnson 6-3. Bowman kept his comeback streak going in the tourney finals, where he double-dipped Morris on the hill 6-1 and 6-3.
By virtue of Bowman meeting his free entry quota and fourth-place Anthony Garcia being the highest-finishing ACS member after Bowman, Garcia qualified for a free 9-ball singles entry into the 2007 ACS Nationals in Las Vegas, courtesy of the ACS. The ACS wishes to thank sponsors McDermott Handcrafted Cues, Silver Cup Chalk, Billiard Wholesalers, and Pro Series Cases for their support in donating “Value-In-Kind” product for this and all stops on the McDermott All-American Tour. Sponsorship opportunities are available for the 2007/2008 All-American Tour, beginning in October 2007 by contacting the ACS.
Saturday, June 30 will feature the final stop on the 2006/2007 tour: the $500-added “Fire Cracker 8-Ball Open” at Q’s Sports Bar Girl in Port Charlotte, FL (for onsite entry details, contact Ken Coulter at 941-585-9600).
