Brayson Defeats Krull for Dominiak Billiard Stop
Dominiak Cues Northeast Tour
The Dominiak Cues Northeast Amateur 10-Ball Tour was held April 26 and was hosted by Snookers Billiards in Springfield, MA. A ready field of 34 players from throughout the Northeast made the trek from Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts in attempt to capture the title of the seventh Dominiak Cues tour stop of the season, but it was Jerry Brayson who walked away with top honors.
The day started off seeing tour newcomer Jeremy Bean make his way through top half of the winners’ side brackets with wins over Tim Haley, Rick Barrette, Chuck Hill, and Gene Hunt to take his spot in the hot seat match. On the bottom half of the winners’ side it was Brayson making his way through the field with wins over Greg Anzellotti, Wade Hill, Dana Kroll, and Steve Hathaway to gain a spot in the hot seat match with Jeremy Bean. In a tightly contested battle, Brayson came out victorious and earned a spot in the finals.
Making his way steadily through the one-loss side of the chart was Dana Kroll with wins over Pete Brown, Rick Barrette, Gene Hunt, and Steve Hathaway. Next up for Kroll was Bean, and this match went hill/hill with Kroll coming out on top of the battle.
Brayson came out of the box in the finals to take a 3-1 lead in the race-to-5 finals. Kroll battled back into the match with some great shots to tie it up at 3-3. But in the next game, the 9 ball was close to the 10 ball and didn’t have a pocket. Kroll didn’t get to a rail on a safety attempt, and Brayson was able to easily take ball in hand on the 9 to make it 4-3. In the end, Brayson was able to take advantage of a couple of unforced errors and take home the title.
