Vidal Bests All on Blaze Tour
Blaze 9-Ball Tour / Brooklyn, NY
by Jose Burgos
The Blaze 9-Ball Tour made its way to Skyline Billiards in Brooklyn, NY, November 1. A strong field came out to play, including players like Marcus Chamat, Rob Pole, Mike Miller, Bill Gallagher, Victor Nau, and Carl Khan, but it was Marc “Spain” Vidal who took home first place.
Vidal led the top half of the bracket with wins over Caroline Pao 7-5, Tony Lian 7-3, and Nau 7-3. Leading the bottom half the bracket was Chamat with wins over Barry Banks 7-4, Jorge Rodriquez 7-5, Miller 7-1, and Michael Wong 7-1.
Vidal and Chamat met up in the match for the hot seat. It was a close call, but Chamat pulled off the 7-5 win, sending Vidal to the one-loss side. Nau was waiting for Vidal in the semifinal match. Another close call, but this time it was Vidal who won 7-5 to return to the finals and a rematch with Chamat. In the true double-elimination finals, Vidal had to best Chamat twice to win the event. Two hill-hill matches later, it was Vidal standing in the winner’s circle.
Results:
1st Marc Vidal $800
2nd Marcus Chamat $390
3rd Victor Nau $300
4th Jorge Rodriquez $100
