Newly signed by Cue & Case Sales, Inc., Shaun “Get Some” Wilkie did his new sponsors proud by taking first at the July 19 stop on the Blaze 9-Ball Tour. Atlantic City Billiards in Egg Harbor, NJ, hosted the $1,000-added event.

Leading the top half of the bracket was Bruce Nagle with wins over Tim Guld 7-2, Denise Reeve 7-1, Wali Muhammad 7-5, and Bob Madara 7-2. But Wilkie took command of the bottom half of the bracket, notching victories over Mike Fernan 7-0, Lou Patrikios 7-3, and Randy Schwager 7-1.

The hot seat match that ensued between Nagle and Wilkie was a one-sided affair that saw Wilkie advance to the finals 7-2. Now on the west side, Nagle had to face Mike Miller in the semfinals. Miller jumped to a 6-2 lead, but Nagle came back slowly, winning the next two games to make it 6-4. Then Miller missed a straight-in 9 ball for the win, and Nagle went on the win that game and the next two to take the match 7-6 and a spot in the finals.

The finals were a rematch of the hot seat match. Maglev would have had to best Wilkie twice to take the title, but he never really got started–Wilkie coasted through the first set 7-3.
