Fujiwara, Takuys, and Garza Win Bankshot Billiards Qualifiers
Bankshot Billiards hosted two qualifiers for the upcoming Lucasi Hybrid Classic which will showcase 48 top players in the disciplines of straight pool and 10-Ball on July 30-Aug 3. Locals from around the Jacksonville area came to participate in the qualifier events. The main pro draw will feature such notables as Johnny Archer, Mika Immonen, Dennis Orcullo, Mike Davis, Raj Hundal and many more. The 3rd Annual Ozone Billiards US Amateur Open will also be held in conjunction with the pro events as well as the 4th Annual World Junior 10-Ball Championships.
Jacksonville is the largest city in Florida and Jeff and Joan Scott has done much to promote pool there. It was his idea to organize the qualifiers to give local players a shot at the big guys from the pro tour. It will be great for the fans there to root on their hometown heroes. said Cindy Lee, CEO of Dragon Promotions, the producers of the Lucasi Hybrid Classic. Jeff and Joan Scott are the proprieters of Bankshot Billiards.
The first qualifier was for the Pro 14.1 event and in the end Japan’s Sato Takuys went undefeated to earn his spot amongst the pros. Bobby Garza, also local to Jacksonville, finished 2nd place to earn his spot. Sato had the high run of the event with a 42. Both players will join the pro straight pool event against the likes of Thorsten Hohmann GER and 14.1 guru Danny Barouty of NYC.
The 10-Ball Pro qualifier brought out players such as Neil Fujiwara who won the event and again Sato Takuys who earned his spot in both divisions of the Lucasi Hybrid Classic. Fujiwara, who is Japanese American, will represent USA and Takuys will represent Japan.
